Whitinsville -Downtown Crossroads Historic District Commission

The Whitinsville -Downtown Crossroads Historic Commission consists of five (5) members and two (2) alternates appointed by the Board of Selectmen, in accordance with MGL Chapter 40C and as provided for in the Whitinsville -Downtown Crossroad Historic District Bylaw, adopted by the Town of Northbridge October 22, 2019 (Art. #7 2019 Fall Annual Town Meeting).

The Commission shall administer the Whitinsville -Downtown Crossroads Historic District, consisting of the following twelve (12) properties:

  1. Col. James Fletcher House (1 Elm Place)
  2. Whitinsville Brick Mills & Forge (54 Douglas Road)
  3. Whitinsville Cotton Mill (17 Douglas Road)
  4. Stephen F & Mary Ann Batchelor House (31 Church Street)
  5. Memorial Town Hall (7 Main Street)
  6. Aldrich School (14 Hill Street)
  7. Town Common/Memorial Park (Church Street)
  8. Village Congregational Church (5 Church Street)
  9. Whitinsville Savings Bank (1 Memorial Square)
  10. Whitinsville Social Library (17 Church Street)
  11. George Marston Whitin Memorial Community Center (60 Main St)
  12. Trinity Episcopal Church (31 Linwood Avenue)

The Commission shall exercise its powers in administering and regulating the Construction and Alteration of Structures and Buildings within the District as set forth under the procedures and criteria established in the Whitinsville -Downtown Crossroad Historic District Bylaw and MGL Chapter 40C.  The Commission may adopt and from time to amend, reasonable Rules & Regulations (not inconsistent with the provisions of the local bylaw & MGL Ch 40C).  Said Rules & Regulations and amendments shall not take effect until approved by a majority vote of the Board of Selectmen.
