Whitinsville Social Library presents this year's Summer Reading Program, “Tails and Tales!” Celebrate with all types of animals...including their fun tails! Each week will be a different animal theme, make sure to join us throughout the summer for a mix of virtual and in-person programs, and track your reading using the Beanstack App (Google Play | App Store) or online version! Additional programs will be added throughout the summer, including weekly Tween and Teen Crafternoons, Storytime!, and Baby Bounce. Visit the WSL Events Calendar to register for each event, registrations will open one week before the event date. Registration is required for many events and events will take place either virtually or outside of the library on our beautiful front lawn.

Northbridge and BVT Reading Lists

The library has copies of the books from the Northbridge Public Schools summer reading lists. Click the links below to see your or your child's summer reading lists. Once you've selected a book to read, be sure to place books on hold in the CWMARS online catalog or visit WSL in-person to see what is available.

Summer Reading Kick-off

This year's Summer Reading Kickoff is taking place in the front lawn of the library on Saturday June 26th from 10:00 AM - 1:30 PM! Come by anytime between the scheduled times to pick up your summer reading kit, learn about Beanstack, and join in for some tail-ful fun! Some events require registration.

Help Miss Heather decorate the Children’s Room! Ages 3-9
Pickup a craft to help Miss Heather decorate, while supplies last. Once the animals are ready, come visit the Children’s Room throughout the summer to see your animal!

Take and Make an Animal mask! Ages 1-9
Pick up a kit to create your own animal mask, take it home and put it together in your own time! While supplies last. 

Tween and Teen Take and Make: Pipe Cleaner Animals! Ages 9 and up
Pick up a kit to create your own pipe cleaner animals friends, will come with everything you need to make several animals! While supplies last. 

Outdoor Storytime! All ages
10:30 - 11:00
Join Miss Heather to read some stories and dance to some fun songs to celebrate the summer!

Ed the Wizard Ages 7 and up

Summer Reading Online with Beanstack

Sign up for the library's summer reading challenge via online Beanstack or by using the Beanstack Mobile App downloaded from your app store. Families can sign up and log under one account. There are three challenges available this year, for children ages 0-9, tweens and teens ages 9-18, and adults 18 years and older.

Register at home at your convenience using Beanstack! Log your reading minutes every day from home and use your tickets to enter prizes! Complete challenges and earn badges to earn extra tickets throughout the summer to be used towards winning a variety of prizes. Don’t forget to download the Beanstack App to participate on the go!

Children Summer Reading Challenge - Ages 0-9

Log your minutes each day using the Beanstack app, all types of reading count! This includes audiobooks, graphic novels, e-books...all reading counts! Use the app to keep track of your child's minutes, when they reach reading goals they will receive a ticket to enter into a drawing of their choice, winners will be chosen at the end of the summer reading program. When you earn badges, you will also earn virtual tickets, check out the Tickets Drawings tab to see all the prizes available and enter your tickets into the prizes you would like a chance to win.

Tween and Teen Summer Reading Challenge - Ages 9-18

Log your reading minutes each day using the Beanstack app, all types of reading including audiobooks and graphic novels count! Each time you reach a reading minute goal, you will receive a ticket to enter into a drawing of your choice, winners will be chosen at the end of the summer reading program. Gain additional tickets by completing other challenges, such as participating in a library program, visiting the library, completing a virtual escape room or other challenge. These challenges will be added throughout the summer. When you earn badges, you will also earn virtual tickets, check out the Tickets Drawings tab to see all the prizes available and enter your tickets into the prizes you would like a chance to win.

Adult Summer Reading Challenge

It’s been a long year so we’re keeping it simple for adults to participate this summer! The more books you read, the more virtual tickets you earn on Beanstack. Tickets go towards raffles for gift cards to Northbridge businesses. Adults earn even more chances to win by visiting the library, attending our programs, or tagging WSL on social media.
