Conservation Commission

Email:  conservation@northbridgemass.org

The Northbridge Conservation Commission is the official agency charged with the protection of town’s natural resources and administration of the Massachusetts Wetland Protection Act (WPA), Northbridge Wetland Protection Bylaw (Bylaw) and applicable regulations. Any activity which alters/impacts the area within 100 feet of a wetland and/or stream, within a mapped floodplain or within 200 feet of a river may require a permit from the Conservation Commission. Please check with the Commission if you are planning any work in these areas. Our staff will review the situation and apprise you of any filing requirements.

The Commission (along with the Land/Trail Stewardship Committee) oversees and manages all of Northbridge's Conservation Lands. Click the Conservation Lands/Trail Maps tab on the left for more information on these areas. The Commission has created a Conservation Fund to purchase supplies and materials that are needed to maintain its land and build new amenities. We are also always looking for volunteers to help with maintenance activities. Please email the Commission if you are interested in donating to the fund or helping out in any way.
