Painting Project: Expect Disruptions

Thursday 6/16/2022:
DPW has scheduled painters to come today to start work on the library's ceiling. Unfortunately large parts of the library will be inaccessible to both patrons and library staff. This includes items in our collection. The workers are starting today in the Tween and Teen Room. Then they will paint in the Childrens Room, part of Adult Fiction, then the area of the circulation desk by the front door.
This project should take 5-6 days. We are going to try our hardest to stay open to the public but may have to close. The library is closed to the public on Monday June 20 for Juneteenth when we hope the majority of the work by the front door and circulation desk will be done.

Friday 6/17/2022 Update:
The painters are finishing up in the Tween & Teen Room today and are setting up and will begin painting in the Children's Room. Both rooms and its materials are unavailable to staff and patrons at 10 AM. The Children's Room will be closed all day.
This library is open our regular hours today (10AM-5PM) and Saturday (10AM-2PM). The Adult Upper Level, circulation desk, and ground floor are all accessible. The Friends of WSL book sale is still scheduled to take place on Saturday from 10AM-2 PM on the library's front lawn.

Saturday 6/18/2022 Update:
Unfortunately there is a set back with the painting project and both the Children's Room and Tween & Teen Room are off-limits to patrons. Library staff may be able to pull some materials off some of the shelves in those rooms for you but again, for your safety, no patrons will have access.
The Friends of the Library are holding their book sale today on the library's front lawn from 10-2. All proceeds raised are donated directly back to the library.
Stay tuned to social media for any further updates on the painting project. Reminder: Library is closed on Monday 6/20 for Juneteenth.
Tuesday 6/21/2022 Update:
There is no access to the library via the front door today. There is a large lift blocking the front door. The painters have begun work on the roof and cupola. For your safety you must enter through the library's back door.
If you have holds available or need summer reading books we HIGHLY suggest you pick them up today. Once the painters begin on the ceiling inside the front door and above the circulation desk we will have to close!
As of 10 AM the Childrens Room is completely off-limits to staff and patrons. The Tween & Teen Room looks like it may be finished today.
This project is taking longer than expected. We hope we will not have to postpone the summer reading kickoff on Friday. Please stay tuned for all updates.
Wednesday 6/22/2022 Update:
The library is closed today due to the interior and exterior painting project.
Due dates on all items have been pushed back but the book drop is open.
Parking Lot Pick Up is not available. The building is unstaffed.

Thursday 6/23/2022 Update:
Unfortunately the library must remain closed again today.
Friday 6/24/2022 Update:
The library is open 10-5 today. A large crane is blocking the front door so please enter through the library's back door. Parts of the Children's Room and Tween & Teen Room are still being worked on but it looks like the interior part of the project may be done today!
Eversource is also at the library today. They are blocking the driveway while they work on the natural gas conversion. Please use the church's parking lot to go to the library's parking lot and enter through the back door.
Unfortunately we have to postpone the Summer Reading Kickoff. If you signed up please check your email for more information.
Please bear with library staff as we clean up, put thousands of items back where they belong, check in an overstuffed book drop x 2, and listen to many voicemails. Thank you for understanding.
Monday 6/27/2022 Update:
The Childrens Room is closed. Please bear with library staff as we clean up after the painting project and move materials back into the space. Thank you.
Wednesday 6/29/2022 Update:
Interior and exterior painting is finished. There is still a lift in front of the building but the front entrance is open. All public areas are open. Please bear with library staff as we finish cleaning up the dust and paint. Thank you for your patience.
Thursday 7/7/2022 Final Update:
The crane/lift is gone from the front lawn. Please use caution when using the walkway from the Church's parking lot to the library's front door as the weight of the crane damaged it.
