How can I sign up for a library card?

Any legal resident of Massachusetts who resides in a city or town with a certified public library can apply for a library card at no charge.

If 18 or over, the applicant must show a photo ID and proof of current address.

A child can be five years old or older to get a library card and a parent or legal guardian must be present at time of application. If under the age of 18, the applicant must have their registration cards signed by a parent or legal guardian and the parent or legal guardian must show a photo ID and proof of current address OR an active CW MARS library card. Parent or legal guardian of a minor assumes responsibility for materials checked out on the child’s card.

Want access sooner? Eligible residents can apply for an eCard. An eCard is a CW MARS library card that patrons who live in a town with a CW MARS member library can register online to access electronic materials, such as ebooks, audiobooks, magazines, and databases. The eCard is for patrons who do not already have a CW MARS library card. eCards may be upgraded to a physical library card by visiting your local library.
