Re: Structure Fire

At 0104 hrs. the Northbridge Emergency Dispatch received a report of a structure fire at 120 Hill Street, Whitinsville. Upon arrival of the first due company, they reported heavy fire coming from floor two and floor three. Engine 1 made entry into the building to search for occupants and were met with heavy fire. All occupants were accounted for with no injuries reported. The building is a historical mansion with wood frame construction with many void spaces that allowed the fire to spread rapidly causing the fire department to go to defensive operations. The fire went to five alarms total and was brought under control at 0415 hrs. The fire is under investigation and the cause is undetermined at this time. There were seven occupants displaced because of the fire. Estimated damage to the building is $500,000.
