FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Will there be in-person voting on Election Day?

Yes, the polls will be open as usual on Election Day.

Are safety precautions being taken?

Yes.  The Town has contracted ServPro to clean and disinfect all voting booths and high-touch areas throughout Election Day.  All election workers will be wearing masks.  Plexiglass partitions will be used to ensure safe distancing.  Signage will be used to remind workers and voters to wear a mask and practice social distancing.  Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the field house.

Can I vote by mail?

Yes, the State has determined that any voter taking precautions related to COVID-19 may vote absentee by reason of physical disability for all elections held on or before June 30, 2021.  A written request from the voter is required.  You can complete the application below, or write a note requesting a ballot and send it to the Town Clerk, 7 Main Street, Whitinsville, MA  01588, or place it in the Town Hall drop box.

How do I return my ballot?

Ballots may be returned two ways:

Town Hall drop box:  ballots may be placed in the payment drop box at town hall.  The drop box is checked multiple times daily.  Ballots must be in the drop box by 8:00pm Election Day.  Any ballots placed in the box after that time will not be counted.

US Mail:  ballots may be mailed to the Town Hall in the envelope provided with your ballot.  Ballots must be received no later than Election Day to be counted.  Please mail your ballot no less than one week prior to Election Day to ensure timely delivery.

If I request a ballot by mail, can I change my mind and vote in person on Election Day?

Yes, as long as your mail-in ballot has not yet been processed, you will be allowed to vote on Election Day.

Can I vote early in person?

There is no scheduled in-person early voting.  At this time, the Town Hall is closed to the public except by appointment.  If you need to make an appointment to vote absentee, please call the Town Clerk's office at 508-234-2001.
