The Board of Health is charged with the responsibility of protecting the public from foodborne illness through a sound public health food protection program. This is accomplished through licensure, inspection and enforcement of compliance of retail food and food service establishments. The Town of Northbridge is unique in that its Board of Health, realizing that bi-annual inspections of food service establishments was not sufficient in ensuring adherence to state regulations, adopted a policy requiring quarterly inspections of all establishments that prepare food on site. The Board is also responsible for responding to consumer inquiries regarding food sanitation practices, complaints, and public health issues.
