Text Box: The Board of Assessors mission is to generate full and fair market valuation of real and personal property for the purposes of levying the property tax as of Jan. 1st every year. Assessors need to establish and maintain public trust and confidence in the valuation process. This critical function is accomplished by a comprehensive program of education and public disclosure. The Assessors office is also responsible for administrating and adjusting motor vehicle excise tax. Adjustments to the bill are made when a vehicle is sold, the owner moves out of state or the plates are transferred to another vehicle.
