do I get a library card?
All Massachusetts residents can get a Whitinsville
Social library card free of charge by coming to the library with a picture
ID and proof of current address. Parents must come and sign for children
under 18.
How
long can I keep a book?
Books circulate for three weeks. A book can be renewed for another three
weeks if no other patron has reserved it.
Can
videos be taken out on a library card?
Yes, you can sign up to take out videos at the main desk. We currently
have over 2,000 videos. Videos circulate for one week, free of charge

do I renew a book?
If they are not overdue, books can be renewed by phone or e-mail, as
well as in person. If you are renewing by phone, please call when the
library is open. If you are renewing by e-mail, you must send us the
due date as well as the author and title of each book you want to renew.
What
if I get an overdue notice?
It means our records show you have not returned items checked out on
your card. If you have questions about an overdue notice please call
when the library is open. If you still have the materials, please return
them as soon as possible to avoid incurring additional fines.
Can
I return items when the library is closed?
Yes. Books, CDs and videos can be returned in the book drop located
at the rear entrance to the library.
Can
I reserve a book?
Yes. Just call or visit when the library is open. E-mail requests for
reserves must tell us the author and title of the book being sought.
Can
I get materials from other libraries?
Yes, our library is a member of the Central and Western Massachusetts
Library System (CWMARS). All you have to do is submit a request either
in person, by phone or by E-mail, We can also obtain books on specific
subjects. Please be as specific as possible. Schools and day care providers
can request themed deposit collections of books, toys and and other
media.
What
museum passes do you have?
The library currently offers passes the Ecotarium (formerly the New
England Science Center), Higgins Armory and the Worcester Art Museum,
all in Worcester, and Tower Hill Botanical Gardens in Boylston. Anyone
with a library card can obtain passes free of charge.
