Zoning Board of Appeals

The Zoning Board of Appeals is made up of five (5) members and four (4) associate members.  The Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) is created under the provisions of MGL CH 40A, which empowers local Board of Appeals to hear appeals, grant variances & issue certain special permits pursuant to the Northbridge Zoning Bylaw.

The Zoning Board of Appeals typically meets the 2nd Thursday of every month at the Zoning Board office, 21 Piedmont Street (7:00 PM). Pursuant to Mass General Laws, notice of meetings must be posted with the Office of the Town Clerk 48 hours prior to the meeting.  All meetings are open to the public.

Hearing notices are filed with the Town Clerk and posted on the bulletin board at the Town Hall, with legal notice advertised in the Blackstone Valley Tribune two successive weeks, the first publication not less than fourteen days before the day of said hearing.

Applications to the Zoning Board of Appeals must be received by the Town Clerk no later than the second Thursday of the month, with the appropriate filing fee satisfied to be placed on the agenda for the following month.  Those inquiring about ZBA filings are directed to call (508) 234-0819.  Instructions to applicants & rules of procedure.

There is a $250.00 filing fee for variance application, special permit application and appeals.  The filing fee for a Comprehensive Permit is $1,000.00 base fee plus $100.00 per unit.
